The War – Clute, TX

Bobby BoslerThe War Updates

It was a delight to be back in Clute, TX! Clute is a small down right next to Lake Jackson on the Gulf coast of Texas. We had a bit of a surprise as we approached the week. We found out that Josh Pettijohn was no longer the Youth Pastor, but that Josh McGee was now the acting Youth Pastor. He had been on the job for only a few months when we arrived. Despite the fact that he was still getting used to things, Josh and the people of the church did a wonderful job in hosting our team and helping with the details of the week.

Our week started with an exciting opportunity. We had heard that there was a new principal at the high school across the street from the church. The previous principal had not been open to our event, but we were hoping that the new principal would be more open to us promoting the event to the students. However, when we conversed with her, we found that we were unable to promote the event on campus again. We realized God was teaching us not to put our trust in men, but in God.

Recruiting went well otherwise. We ran across many teens who had been to The War the previous year. I even ran across a young lady at Chick-Fil-A who asked me if I remembered her. Now I have to say that I see a lot of teens across the country, but I did remember her face from The War the previous year. She came out again for the rallies and God worked in her heart about several issues. She also brought her brother, who made some key decisions as well.

All in all, God blessed us with 87 teens who attended the event with our attendance growing each night. By the end of the week, 29 people had trusted Christ as their Savior. Though our week had many changes and disappointments, one thing remained the same—God’s power to save!
