War of Special Forces Week #11 Canoga Park, CA

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

This is the first time the team has had the privilege to be at Faith Baptist Church and Schools in Canoga Park, CA.  This is one of the larger schools the team has been in.  It also is one of the earlier Christian schools in the state of California.  I believe that the student population between 7th and 12th grade is around 400.

As the week progressed students began to be responsive to the Word of God.  Bitterness and hidden sin were issues that kept coming up.  On Friday the three team captains spoke to the 9th and 10th grade guys.  The Lord powerfully moved and most them stayed afterwards to deal with the things concerning which God had convicted them.  We did not have near enought counsellors even after several on staff came to help.

Friday evening when we opened the microphone for testimonies, we had more than we could handle in the time alloted.  We had to go overtime several minutes.  It was a blessing as young people testified of dealing with sin and finding the joy of the Lord.

The youth pastor told us the next day that parents had contacted him and told of teens getting right with them after the Friday night final service.  It is always great to hear of young people who take God at His Word and watch the truth set them free.
