What a great week in Hilton Head Island, SC! Pastor Scott Barber had called me a while ago and asked if we could do something a little unique. He wanted to do a week long “Family VBS” called a Family Feud. The idea was that individuals of every age could come, enjoy a meal, compete in non-athletic competition, and hear the gospel. We agreed to experiment, and the Lord greatly blessed! God brought out lost people, and lost people were saved!
On Tuesday night, a woman attended who had found a flyer in a park and had a team captain knock on her door. She brought her three children with her. She and two of her children responded in the invitation. While she had a clear testimony of salvation from her childhood, her son got saved in the counseling room. On Wednesday night at 6:45pm, a whole family was driving down the highway looking for a new church when they saw a sign for a Baptist Church. They pulled off the highway and into the parking lot. When they entered the parking lot, they were greeted by a team captain who invited them in to join the meal and the competition afterwards. They attended the whole night and one of their daughters got saved at the invitation. Another woman on a work program from the Philippines attended the night. She was invited by one of the team captains at a department store on Sunday afternoon. She responded in the invitation and was gloriously saved! God brought her all the way from the Philippines to Hilton Head Island to hear the gospel and be saved! The woman whose son was saved on Tuesday night began inviting everyone she knew. On Thursday she brought out nearly 15 people to the event. She had to make two trips to get them all there! Several that she brought got saved that night.
More stories could be told, but all in all we had a cumulative total of 85 people attend our Family Feud with a high night of 54. Though many heard the gospel, 8 trusted Christ to be their Substitute and Savior. Praise the Lord for His power to save!
