Special Forces – Orlando, FL

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

We left the frozen north to head down to Tabernacle in Orlando the Saturday before the meeting. I think the whole team was relishing the wonderful sunshine and temperatures. We have had the privilege to come here several times over the years. The Lord did work in hearts, and we are grateful for all the Lord did. It was great to work with Markus Secrist again! I appreciate his heart for teens.

Aaron, the Seal team captain, invited a teen in Sunday School class to join for the evening rallies. The young man came all three nights and responded to the invitation on Friday night. He was gloriously saved.

While out recruiting during public school dismissal, Jessica invited a girl who was walking down the sidewalk. The girl came to the rally night along with a friend that she brought. The girl responded to the invitation and was saved that night. Her friend also responded and got assurance of her salvation. When talking to the girl afterward, Jessica found out that the public school she was walking by was not even her school. She walked down that sidewalk, and God led Jessica to invite her so that she would be saved!

One young man in the Christian school was really into the competition, went home, and invited his cousin. On Wednesday night, the cousin responded to the invitation. Aaron was able to go through the gospel with him. He was saved that night and came back every night!

God did a deep work in several of the staff’s hearts. One shared a testimony of how she was praying for God to work, but was getting a little discouraged by Thursday night because there had not been as many responding as she thought should respond. She testified:

“And so I was driving home, and I was just prayin’, and I was begging God. I was like, “God, why aren’t You working?….What’s going on?” And the Lord started working on me. And He’s like, “Well, you know…why don’t you focus on getting your life right first?” And so I started praying and I was like, “Ok, Lord, what is it?” And He started revealing some things to me….One of them is I need to show the love of Christ….There’s been some people in my life that I’ve failed showing the love of Christ to that I needed to. And so I was like, “Okay, Lord.” So I called up that person and made it right with that person, and I asked them to forgive me. And I just kept prayin’, I was prayin’ that the Lord would break my heart for you guys, that He would just do somethin’, and use me to be able to help you guys. And I got home and this morning on my way back in, I started prayin’ again. And I was just prayin’ that God would really work today, and He burdened me about something else that I need to get right, and I had to swallow some pride and call that person and make it right. And… I was just really in the presence of the Lord.”

Below are a couple of other testimonies:

“I made a decision this week. I’ve been dealin’ with a lot of sin in my life, and I’ve been relying on myself to get to heaven, and I realized this week that it’s not me; it’s Him. And so…this week, I actually got my life right with God, and said “God, I need Your help, and I need You to save me.” So I actually got my salvation this week.

“If you’ve been in this school, Dr. Jim has been talking about father wounds and that kind of thing…And this week…I realized that I don’t want to live in that bondage anymore of being constantly held down by that sin and all of that stuff. So I followed Dr Jim’s advice, and I listed the top ten things that hurt me, and when I wrote these—as soon as I wrote them down—I like addressed it and prayed about it and the Lord just instantly freed me. And I’ve been living in freedom for like three straight days now, and it’s been amazing!
