The team just had the opportunity to be here at Westgate this past spring. Pastor Wooten expressed interest in the team coming back at the beginning of the school year, but Dr. Jim had a scheduling conflict. He asked me to take the week and lead the team. We ran their school camp during the day and then conducted the rallies at night.

Janna, the Seal team co-captain was recruiting at Walmart. She talked to a mom who was all on board and registered her teens with friends online. On Friday night, three of them came back to get saved.

Hannah, the Ranger team co-captain, was out recruiting with some of the school teens. One of the girls saw a teen that was frequently in the neighborhood, but they had never spoken. Hannah was able to recruit him, and then the young man also brought some friends with him. On the first rally night, he responded to the invitation, and Isaac, the Ranger team captain, was able to lead him to the Lord. His friend also accepted Christ that night!

One young lady in the school was bitter at God for circumstances that had happened in her family’s life. She talked to her parents one night this week about her bitterness. That very night, her family realized some serious struggles her brother had, and the young lady had her eyes opened to where the bitterness in her brother’s life had taken him. She spoke with Janna, who encouraged her in letting go of bitterness completely and choosing to forgive.

A young man who got right about some sin in the spring admitted that he hadn’t fully unloaded the truck. God had been on his case continually since then. He came back weeping because he hadn’t realized the correlation between bitterness and viewing failure. He worked through his bitterness with Zeb, the Seal team captain, and then got fully right with those who had a right to know.

One young lady was desperate to get to know God more. She had cleared up things in her life in the spring, but she wanted to keep growing. Rebekah, the Marine team co-captain, was able to talk and pray with her. She wanted to have spiritual leadership in the school, but she knew she had to be real!

One young man whom Matthew, the Marine team captain, recruited at a bowling alley, showed up on Wednesday night for the rally. He admitted that he had almost not come because he had social anxiety, but something deep inside told him he had to come. That night, he went back and got gloriously saved. The next two nights, he brought a friend and was burdened for his salvation. He gave a testimony on Friday night:

“Matthew talked to me and helped me through some misunderstandings I had with accepting Jesus’ gift, and I did accept it Wednesday and that was really great.”

A young lady in the school had been struggling with bitterness towards family and friends. She said in her testimony:

“…the steps I’m going to take to get rid of this bitterness and the selfishness and pride I’ve been having in my life; I’m going to trust God, I’m going to give it to Him, and I’m going to accept His grace.”

One young man didn’t respond during the week. However, God was working on his heart. The week after we left, he sent a text to his team captain saying that God had convicted him about hidden sin and that he was going to take the steps to get right with his parents. We’re praising the Lord for all He did during the week and even after we left!
