Special Forces Week #1 Norfolk, NE

In the mid-1980s the Minutemen Evangelistic Team came to Community Bible Church in Norfolk, NE for the first time. We have been back several times over the years.  The last time the team was here was in 2002.  It was a joy to return and work with these dear people.

The pastor when we first came, George Heusinger, is now pastor emeritus and his son in law, Arin Hess, is now the pastor. We have worked with Pastor Hess several times and it was a blessing to work with him again.  I was so encouraged with the spirit in the church on Sunday.

When the team arrived on Saturday evening, one of our young ladies on the team saw a young lady across the street. She went over and invited her to the three evening rallies.  She came the first and second night, but could not stay for the Gospel message.  On the third night she was able to stay and was wondrously saved!

One of my daughters recruited a young lady at the local junior high school. When she called the junior higher, she asked for a ride.  Dana, one of our team members, drove over with my daughter to pick her up.  She told my daughter, “I could not sleep last night, I was so excited.  I kept looking at the brochure.”  She came all three nights and was saved on the first night.

One of our young lady team members invited an eighth grade young man at the local public school. When she called him, she talked to the dad who thought it was a joke.  He explained that his son was an atheist and they could not get him to church.  “Well, I told him about everything and that it was at a church, and he signed up. . . This would be a great opportunity to come and hear the Gospel and get saved,” the team member answered. The dad let her talk to him and not only did the eighth grader come, he got saved and came all three nights!

All week long in the Christian school, the students listened, but there was no response to the messages. On the last day, the Lord broke through and many in the school were responsive to the Lord.  We had a good time of prayer and some good testimonies at the campfire service.

The week was a blessing and I trust will yield lasting fruit in eternity. It was good to be back with old friends in Norfolk, NE!
