Special Forces Week #1 – South Haven, IN

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

It has been a few years since we have been with Pastor John Allen and the good folks of Emmanuel Baptist Church in South Haven, IN.  Emmanuel Baptist Church has a great spirit and the auditorium was full on both Sunday morning and evening.  The folks were responsive.  I could tell we were in for a good week.

On Sunday morning as I was greeting folks leaving after the service, I met Peter.  Peter, about 60 years old, told me he was not saved when I asked him about his salvation.  He admitted God was working in his heart, but he did not respond to my invitation when I asked him if he would like someone to show him how to be saved.  I later found out that Pastor Allen had visited him and given him the Gospel.  The seed had been planted and was being watered.  On Sunday night Peter came and walked the aisle for salvation.  What a blessing to see him saved and come back on Wednesday night.

On Wednesday morning at 6:45 AM, I opened the door of our RV to look outside when I noticed a large group of teens across the street waiting for the bus.  I texted my team captains, but when  it became evident they were not going to be able to get there, I headed over to invite the group out.  Except for one, they all came over to me and listened as I invited them.  That night the one who had not come over to me came to the evening rally and was wonderously saved.  He came all three nights and attended church the following Sunday.  May the Lord continue to work in his life!

On Thursday, Glenn Stevenson, the Recon captain, saw a couple of older teen guys walking down the street by the church.  He invited them to the evening rally.  They both came and were saved that night.  One of them was in church the next Sunday!

There were others saved that week and several in the school got things right with the Lord.  It was a great week and we look forward to returning in the future.
