In 2012 and in 2013 the team had the privilege of coming to New Life Baptist Church for the War of Special Forces. Both of those times were in the fall. This time we came in the spring. There were no pecan trees yielding their tasty treats or cotton fields white with cotton, but there were great opportunities for another kind of harvest. We were able in two rally nights to see around 30 salvation decisions
The week was scheduled a few weeks before the team arrived since New Life was filling a week that recently cancelled. Pastor Page and his people did a great preparing for the week and assisting all week long.
One of the team captains, John, was recruiting in an apartment complex. He didn’t see any teens but he did come up to a group of parents that were drinking. He explained what was going on. The parents had teenage children and said they could come if they got a ride. They gave John their phone numbers and several teens came. Three of them responded to the Gospel!
John also recruited a teen at Walmart who was with his grandma. The young man’s grandma was sold on the idea. She made sure he was there early. He didn’t get saved on Wednesday, but he did on Thursday. He also brought a friend who got saved on Thursday.
God also worked in some of the young people in the Christian school. One young man knew he wasn’t a soul winner and hadn’t spent time in his Bible. When the team captain, John, counseled him, he said, “Why don’t you go out into a field and spend time with God.” Later he texted John and said that he went out into field to spend time with God.
The administrator of the school came up to us and told us one of the students had gotten saved. He had come up to him and admitted, “I’ve been wanting to talk to you for a long time, but had been scared.” He had been have doubts about God’s existence. John, the Recon team captain, had given his testimony about being an atheist and then getting saved. The testimony helped him and as a result came to the administrator wanting to get saved.
Another young lady was convicted when she saw the team’s burden and aggressiveness in recruiting teens to come to the rally nights. She remarked to one of the team members, “I have friends and I don’t know they are saved. I need to talk to them.”
We thank the Lord for what he did in Clinton. The fields are indeed ready for harvest!
