I believe the first time we came to Tabernacle Baptist Church was in 2000. Each time we have had wonderful opportunities of ministry. Pastor Steve Ware has a heart for the teens in his school. We caught immediately that there were several new students and Pastor Ware was burdened for them.
The team took advantage of some great recruiting opportunities and had over 300 teens give a name and number expressing interest in the three rally nights. Well over 100 teens came over the three nights and over 40 teens were saved. It was wonderful to see young people respond to the Gospel. I asked one young man right after he had been counselled, “Where would you go right now if you died?” He thought for a second and then, like it was dawning on him for the first time, his face exploded in a smile, “Heaven!” I wish I had videotaped the smile. It was a thrill!
On Friday about 20 students responded to the invitation to come if you had made a decision for Christ and were not ashamed of the decision, but wanted it to last. We began a prayer meeting and for about 20 minutes there was a brokenness as teens began to weep and pray broken prayers. Many contrite about their lives and sinfulness. It was obvious the Lord was moving!
We were all encouraged by a report from Marcus Seacrist, the youth pastor, that 13 teens were in Sunday School the next Sunday who were saved at the War of Special Forces. Please pray for Brother Marcus and he continues to follow up these young people.
