In the spring of this year, my wife and I had the privilege of conducting a meeting at Green River Bible Baptist Church. Each service the auditorium was filled. It was a wonderful meeting of souls saved and God’s people responsive to God’s Word. This fall we had the privilege to return and conduct the War of Special Forces. We had a profitable week of getting the Gospel to teenagers in a needy town.
We had a wonderful testimony service on Friday night. Several of the teens who had gotten saved the previous nights lined up to give testimonies. One young man testified of getting saved and then said, “it’s like a load off my back.” Another young lady came to give a testimony and put both her hands in the air and said loudly, “I’m going to heaven!”
I dealt with a young man who was smiling so much I was not sure what to think. I figured out what was going on when he said, “I just can’t stop smiling.” He was thrilled he was saved!
A young man was recruited by the Navy Seals team captain and came all three nights. Before the rally nights began, he had injured his arm, but came to each rally night watching from the sidelines with a sling on his arm. On Friday night the captain began to talk with him and he broke and wept his way to Jesus! The team captain began to help him deal with sin issues after he had been saved. God is still at work!
We were also thankful for God’s working in the students in the Christian school. Some dealt with bitterness and forgiving those who had wronged them. Some were definitely accessing the grace of God!
Thursday afternoon, after the team meeting where the captain preached, a young lady made a decision to be a light for Jesus Christ. She had been encouraged by her counselor to ask God to allow her to sit in on a Gospel counseling session that evening at the War. It was exciting because that evening she followed closely behind the counselor as she approached another teenage girl about the condition of her soul. The counselor was able to confront the teen with the Gospel all the while the young lady who had made a decision to be light sat in the shadows on the retaining wall praying and watching God draw another teen unto Himself. She is now memorizing the plan of salvation so that she can soon lead a soul the Christ.
It was great to be with Tim and Courtney Swanson. Tim traveled with the war of Special Forces team in 2006, 2007 and 2008. He is a “veteran of veterans.” He is the youth pastor there and doing a great job. Courtney is a wonderful help meet in the ministry.
It was a great week! May the Gospel make great inroads in that area!
