Special Forces Week #2 – Land O’ Lakes, FL

In 1990 our team was in Spanish Fort, AL and conducted The War in a small church in that area. Besides having a great week, we also met Dave Nichols, who at that time was a student in college. Since that time we have been with Dave several times when he was a principal in Stuart, FL. A few years ago we had the privilege of coming to Land O’ Lakes where Dave is now principal at Land O’ Lakes Christian School. This is our third visit to this church and school. Each time we have appreciated the focus and leadership of this ministry.

This year we had several encouraging things happen. First, there were a couple of seniors who made the decision to seek the Lord in what He wants them to do in life. Both young men admitted that before they really had not sought what God wanted them to do with their lives. Probably the most powerful testimony of the night on Friday was when one of these young men stood and with conviction said he was going to ask God what He wanted Him to do from this point!

Second, it was a blessing to see teens take steps of faith. One student remarked to his team captain after dealing with some bitterness, “I’m free!”. Another student told me, “It’s just like you said. I told my dad everything I’d been doing behind his back. I feel great!”

Third, we had some wonderful salvation decisions from the teens visiting from the community. One of our team captains invited a young man named Cody on Monday at some nearby basketball courts. He came on Wednesday night and was wondrously saved. The next night he brought two friends and introduced them to his team captain as the one who had showed him how to be saved the night before! He certainly was not ashamed of his salvation. That night those two got saved. The final night Cody brought four others. One of those responded to the invitation and was counseled by the same team captain. The boy wept until he realized that Jesus’ blood could wash away all his sin. After he was saved, he went out to see Cody and with tears embraced him and said, “Thanks Cody.” Needless to say, we were thrilled.
