Grand Junction is a beautiful area with the Grand Mesa, the Book Cliffs and the Colorado National Monument all on different sides of the city. Pear Park Baptist Church is a great church in that needy valley. Pastor Randy David and I went to college together. It was great to see how the Lord has used his ministry there these many years.
The week started with a good Sunday. The adults seemed supportive of the coming week. Each night there was a good constituency of personal workers ready to open a Bible and point a teenager to Christ.
On Wednesday there were a good number of teens visiting. During the invitation several responded. One young man was in tears as a worker led him to Christ.
The next night there were several hands raised, but no response. It was a blessing to watch the team and folks in the church talk to teens afterwards about the Gospel. A senior in the Christian school was very instrumental in leading a visiting teenager to the Lord after the service was over!
On Friday we were touched with all the Lord did. There were several young people who gave testimony of getting saved. There were two girls who had been counseled Wednesday and Thursday concerning salvation. Both would not get saved. On Friday they both gave a testimony of going home on Thursday night and getting saved. Another young lady had been invited but had not come until Friday night. She wept as she heard the testimonies and was locked in to the Gospel message. She raised her hand that she needed to be saved and responded to the invitation. With tears she trusted Jesus and told the personal worker that she and her mother had just moved and were looking for a church! Other teens were saved that night. Several of those saved had been there all three nights. It was great to see the cumulative effect of the Gospel!
All week the teens in the school were very responsive to the preaching of the Word. On Friday evening most of the students gave wonderful testimonies of dealing with sin and the blessing that followed. One young lady talked of getting right with the Lord about what she called “like super duper bad music”. When she finished her testimony, she put her hands in the air and said, “I’m free!”
Another young lady told of getting right with her parents about things she had hid behind their back. She testified, “You really do free peace. I really do. I felt so free. My heart was like a butterfly. I was like so free. It was just such a blessing.”
There were many other wonderful testimonies on that Friday evening. When we were done, I think everyone’s heart was full with all the Lord had done!
