This is the first time the War of Special Forces had ever been to Calvary Christian School in Greer, SC. Pastor Turner followed his dad as the pastor here. He was a student in a class my brother John taught years ago when Pastor Turner was in high school.
The students were into the week from the start. The Rangers jumped out early, but on Wednesday the Recon team took the lead. Although both Rangers and Seals made a decent comeback attempt on Friday night they were turned back by the victorious Recon team.
On Wednesday several teens in the school responded to the message on Bitterness. On Friday about two-thirds of the students responded when we gave an invitation for those who had responded to the Lord during the week and knew they needed Christ’s strength for the decision to last. We had a wonderful prayer time as some of the students prayed about their need.
We did not have as many lost attend as we would have liked, but we were thankful for those who did and responded to the Lord. One young man who responded to the Gospel invitation told me he had never heard the message of salvation before. He got saved and the next day came back with a Bible his grandmother had bought for him! Another young man got saved and the next day was in the hospital with an appendectomy attack!
On Friday, many of the young people gave testimonies. When we started the testimonies, it looked like we were only going to have a few, but more young people kept coming and in the end we went for at least 30 minutes with testimonies of dealing with bitterness and other issues. The Lord was definitely working in hearts.
We are looking forward to March of 2015 when the War of Special Forces will return to Calvary Baptist Church in Greer, SC.
