In 1982 Doug Wright, who now is the pastor of Keystone Baptist Church in Berryville, VA, traveled on one of the early Minutemen Evangelistic Teams. Although the years have past, Pastor Wright is still a Minuteman. It was good to labor with him again. The team was last here in 2009.
We were thrilled to have several saved this week. Five were saved the first night of the War of Special Forces. Some of them were students. Two were foreign students. Another one was a young man who was manifesting great spiritual need. I was told he was public about his not being saved. He not only got saved, but on Friday he talked to me with tears about his burden that people were going to hell! It was wonderful to see God do such a work in his heart.
All week long I felt the students listened to the messages, but with no visible response. I challenged the students on Friday about the fact that several students that had gotten saved during the week had not had one fellow student ever talked to them about their soul. Two girls took it to heart and immediately told another young lady that they were concerned about her salvation. She fled to the restroom in tears and was soon wondrously saved. She gave a glowing testimony on the final service. After the team left, she texted one of the team members with this: “Thank you all so much for your ministries! Your messages woke me up to realize I really wasn’t saved, and I was going to hell . . . Tell Jessica I said thank you because if she hadn’t talked with me I probably still wouldn’t be saved. Tears if joy are running down my face now because I know the Lord is with me and working in my heart.”
Also on Friday several other students responded during a tag team message the three team captains preached. I dealt with a couple who were getting right about issues with parents. It was a blessing to see the Lord work in hearts!
