Special Forces Week #6 Clinton, NC

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

Last year the team had the privilege of coming to New Life Baptist Church in Clinton, NC for the first time. Normally we do not have the opportunity to come back a year later, but it worked out for the team to return this fall. Last year was a couple of weeks later in the fall and my daughters spent the week gathering pecans and opening them for a snack. This year they were looking forward to doing the same, but the pecans were not on the tree!

The team had the opportunity to come in early and recruit at some kind of festival that was going on in town. This allowed the team to recruit a good amount of teens. Last year we had 48 different teens attend. This year the number went up to 68 teens who attended. We were grateful for several young people who were saved during the evening rallies.

In the Christian school, we had several young people deal with issues in their lives. One young lady in particular, I remember crying during a prayer meeting we had on the final day. I could tell God was working in her heart. That night she gave a wonderful testimony and threw a bunch of CDs in the campfire as well as some other things she knew displeased the Lord. I think everyone was touched.

In the end, there was a harvest of decisions for the Lord. The pecans were not ready for harvest, but thankfully, many teens were!
