Special Forces Week #7 – Clinton, NC

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

This is the first time the team has ever been to New Life Baptist Church in Clinton, NC. It happened to be at the time pecans were falling off of the trees in the front yard of the church. The weather was affected some by Hurricane Sandy the first few days, but the Lord gave us a great week! It was a joy to labor with Pastor Page and the principal, Brother Edwards, in this ministry week.

The Lord worked in the hearts of several students in the school. Some responded to deal with hidden sin in their lives. It was great to hear their testimonies on Friday night as they told of getting right with their parents and the joy that came afterwards. One testimony put it this way (I’m going to leave it in the vernacular). “If I can just tell y’all something: if y’all get saved and y’all have sin in your life and you get right with your parents and with God, y’all have joy overfill your heart and you’ll have happiness come into your life. And if you keep going God’s way, He’ll strengthen you and help you in whatever you do.” There is nothing like a clean conscience with God and man!

We were also thrilled with many of the salvation decisions. Our first rally night was on October 31st so we were not sure how that would affect things. We were encouraged with several visitors that night. Each night there were several teens saved. On Wednesday an athlete named Michael was saved. On Thursday, another athletic young man, Michael was saved. They told us Friday night that they went to school telling their friends that this Bible stuff is real! They urged friends to come and hear the Gospel. They were so excited about what the Lord had already done in their hearts.
