Special Forces Week #9 Cordova, TN

Jim Van GelderenSpecial Forces Updates

In 2009 the War of Special Forces was last at Heritage Baptist Church in Cordova, TN.  Heritage Baptist is the church in the Memphis area that used to be called Thrifthaven Baptist Church.  My father was helping this church in 1997 when the Lord called him home.  Pastor Rich Sevilla came to pastor this church shortly thereafter.  My father had hoped that he would be the one to come and take the church. Pastor Sevilla was from Marquette Manor Baptist Church, my father’s last pastorate.  Pastor Sevilla has moved the church and school to a new location in Cordova and it was good to be with him again.

The Lord worked in many of the school students and I was so encouraged on the last night when many of them gave testimony of the Lord’s working in their hearts.  One young lady testified of God’s working in her heart about several matters.  She threw some posters into the fire about which God had convicted her.  I believe they were posters of a popular pop rock group.  There were many others in the school who responded to the Lord during the week.  We had a good prayer time on Friday and a good testimony service on Friday evening.
