This was our first visit to Lighthouse Baptist Church in La Verne, CA. The church was packed for Sunday morning and full Sunday evening. The spirit of the people was encouraging. I think all of us were looking forward to a great week!
The young people who came during the school (home school and Christian school) were very responsive. Several dealt with bitterness and others dealt with some hidden sin.
On Friday we had a sweet prayer meeting with most of the student body. The Lord was working! That night we had more students deal with sin and deal with their assurance of salvation. One of the students gave this powerful testimony. “This week God dealt with me. I had some anger in my heart towards some people and I had some hidden sins that I had kept hidden from my parents. I asked God for forgiveness and I asked them for forgiveness and this week He showed me that I needed to do that to get it right with those people. And I have gotten the chance to do that. It has just brought so much joy back into my life, it’s been an amazing thing.”
On Wednesday a young man came who was in a nearby college. When the invitation was given, he not only raised his hand, but responded and was saved! He gave clear understanding of the Gospel and of his trust in Christ. It was a blessing! He came all three nights. On Friday he gave a testimony about getting saved! This was part of his testimony. “I’m new here. I just want to say a little bit about my past. I come from a broken home; my mom and dad are divorced. I was raised by my mom. My dad was an alcoholic and . . . I had post-traumatic stress disorder and I had a really hard time dealing with it and I even tried killing myself when I was twelve. I really hated God. I was really spiteful of Him. Coming here recently just made me realize that I was wrong and God saved me.”
Another young man was saved on Wednesday as well. The next night he brought a bunch of friends. Several of them were saved as well. He urged a friend sitting next to him to respond, but the young man did not. The next night many of those friends were back again. It was neat to see him immediately burdened for his lost friends.
