The War – Humble, TX

This was our third year in a row at Greenwood Village Baptist Church. Unfortunately for us, the previous Youth Pastor, Will Cover, had just moved on to work at a ministry in Indiana with a former MET team captain Brandon Hudson. His faithful lay-assistant, Cecil Hubbard, however, made significant sacrifice and filled his role while we were there.

The week was significant in several ways. It was great to see Colby and Teangela, two you people who had gotten saved last year, faithfully attending the church. They both had a great spirit and did a great job at the event. Greg, a young man who got saved the first time we came, was also there for the event. It was exciting to see the Lord at work in their lives in various ways!

Our recruiting effort started off with a huge disappointment. For the previous two years we enjoyed an unbelievable opportunity at Spring High School. We would arrive at the school on Thursday morning as the teens who had arrived early with nothing to do would flock from the school to the strip mall across the street for about 45 minutes before school began. It was recruiting heaven! When we arrived, we found out that because of a stabbing that had taken place the previous Fall, this luxury was no longer still in operation. This definitely impacted our recruiting numbers, but as with the previous week, we trusted that God was testing our faith and asking us to trust Him instead of the advantageous circumstances.

Our attendance began on the smaller side, but the spirit was good and our attendance grew each night. In the end, we had 16 teens trust Christ during the week and several other significant decisions. Praise God for His faithfulness and power!
