The War — Pine Bluff, AR

Last week was a week full of battles, breakthroughs, and answered prayers! Four years ago, God redirected us to Liberty Baptist Church through a cancelled meeting. When we arrived, there were plenty of challenges, but God worked in ways beyond what we could have imagined. A young man named Michael was one of many who was saved that week, and subsequently God called to him preach and he has been serving the Lord faithfully at the church ever since.

We came back a year later and had a blessed meeting. God increased our reach in the public schools and our attendance, but still the nearest school we were unable to touch, and we felt as if we needed to do so much more.

Well, this time around, God blessed in superabundant ways! First, the church has developed an excellent relationship with the superintendent of the school nearby and was able to secure for us free reign on campus for both school start, school dismissal, and school lunch rooms in that High School and Junior High. That opportunity provided an incredible open door to the school that served the community immediately around the church. We ended our days of recruiting with 458 contacts—that’s 150% of what we usually expect!

Second, because of the new recruiting opportunities and because of many prayers, God mightily blessed in our attendance. We had 107 teens attend with a high night of 70. One night, an entire ROTC squadron arrived for the Navy team captain, Will, from his recruiting initiative in a different school!

Third, God blessed in the decisions and counseling times. Though we had some battles breaking through with some, there were 28 solid salvation decision for the week. As an added blessing, Michael, the young man who trusted Christ four years ago, was able to lead four young men to Christ this week! God’s hand is definitely on his life!

The week was not without its challenges. We had to break through several bouts of oppression on our team, seek the Lord for deeper conviction in the girls, and deal with some other problem young people—and yet it seemed that God used every situation to further His work and to work in hearts.
