The War Week #6 – New Freedom, PA

Bobby BoslerThe War Updates

Pastor Adam Burtt and I go back a long way. We attended Bible college and seminary together at Baptist College of Ministry. We also traveled together as team captains on the War of Special Forces team with Jim Van Gelderen back in the Spring of 2005. It was great to get back in the trenches with him reaching the teens of his community.

The week brought a daunting challenge; for the first time in my experience, we were completely shut down at the only public school in the area. We could not recruit in the lunch room nor could we even approach school property. This was discouraging, to say the least. However, we did our best at finding the teens through other means in the community. It was a battle, but the Lord provided contacts as we trusted Him for every one.

The Lord did a work in hearts at the actual War events. Though we had a lower attendance than usual, eight young people trusted Christ as their Savior. One of the young men resisted the Lord at the invitation the first night. One of the team captains talked to him afterward, but he and his friend refused to trust Christ. The next night he came, but did not respond again even though both of his friends responded. The same team captain approached him afterward to see what God was doing in his heart. He came to find out that after their discussion the previous night, the young man could not stop thinking about the gospel. God was “all over him.” That night, after he got home, as he put it, “It clicked!” The team captain questioned him, and he had clearly transferred his dependence to Christ alone! Praise the Lord for the conviction of the Holy Spirit!
