We are proud to announce our first official week running The War Blitz in Charlotte, North Carolina. We were brought invited by the church to first and foremost hold a Thee Generation Youth Summit for their teenagers to preach on “Total Surrender. Total Dependence.” (The Thee Generation slogan)
Thee Generation is another ministry under Minutemen Ministries. It is more accurately as our Thee Generation website describes: “a world-wide movement of young people who are already committed to total surrender to God and total dependence on His power to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” (For more information and resources visit www.theegeneration.org) Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evening, I preached to the teenagers about living lives that are completely consumed by God, totally surrendered to His will, and overcoming strongholds. Following these evening services, the teenagers partnered with their team captains to invite teenagers from all over the community to the weekend rallies.
We saw several recruits attend the evening rallies, as well as another youth group from the area. One recruit came late the Saturday evening, during the middle of the service, but the young girl still heard enough of the message to understand that she did not know for sure that she was on her way to heaven. My wife, Danielle, was able to counsel her and not too far into counseling, Danielle realized that this particular girl had many inward struggles that resulted from a former step-father who treated her poorly. Though she had many great emotional needs that needed to be addressed, my wife first shared the gospel with her explaining that all her needs could not be met unless she had received Jesus Christ into her life first. The young girl trusted in Jesus that night to be her Savior. Unfortunately the evening was already late, and Danielle had to let the girl go home, but she asked the girl to read through several verses that explained about having victory over bitterness, hatred, and unhealed emotional wounds. Danielle encouraged the girl that if she was able to return the next evening they could talk again about her struggles. But before leaving the girl expressed that she wanted to start attending Sunday school at the church every week.
On Sunday morning, several recruits attended the church’s services including a mother, whom Cody invited her and her boys to the evening rallies, and during the previous evening’s message, the Lord convicted her about her neglect of faithfully attending church. The mother received counsel from the pastor’s wife, and she encouraged the mother that going to church was a good first step but that she needed to ultimately confess any sin that would be hindering her relationship with the Lord. The next morning the mother and her two boys arrived early to the service. They decided that that would be their home church.
Danielle prayed all day that the girl would return, so she could receive the help that she needed. The evening rally finally began and the young girl arrived early eager to get involved in all the competitions. Following the service, the girl once again walked to the back of the room to get counsel. My wife was able to encourage the girl, but ultimately show her through the Scriptures that Jesus is her all-in-all, and that if she cast her cares and hurts to Him that He would heal her wounds. After a long conversation, the girl understood the steps she needed to take in order to have victory spiritually, emotionally, and even mentally. We believe this was the beginning of her not only of her eternal security, but also of victory over strongholds.
We credit you with the lives that were reached this week because of your fervent prayers for our team. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16b) As each week progresses, we covet each of your prayers. Without personal prayer and the prayers of others, we cannot access God’s grace and power to accomplish His will. As Oswald Chamber very-well stated that prayer should not be a last resort, but must be our first line of defense.
In His Service,
