Tucked away in the North Carolinian mountains, the Anchorage Christian camp hosts both churches and schools in their beautiful lakeside campgrounds. This week we had the privilege to enjoy its beauty while hosting a Thee Generation youth summit to a Christian school’s high school and middle school students. By far these students were the most athletic, competitive, and involved teens we have come across which is a perfect mix for our team. Every day we had competitions and not a single student sat out or failed to give their all; even during their free times, the students with noticeable camaraderie played volleyball, basketball, football, air hockey, and pingpong together. This created an atmosphere of excitement that we anticipate in every youth group we visit.
Along with competitions at our Thee Generation youth summit, we had daily sessions for the teens emphasizing personal revival, repentance of sin, and dependence on God to live a victorious Christian life. Throughout the various sessions, many teens responded. An amazing sight was being able to see the school faculty counsel several of their students both investing in them and helping them make decisions for Christ. When we come to a local church or youth group, our desire is always to point their students back to those who have invested so much in them throughout the years. Perhaps one of the best times of this particular week was watching several young men who had been called to preach sit down with their youth pastor and school administrator to talk about their future in ministry as well as the decisions that they would now make in response to their surrender to preach.
As the team captains invested in the students, the students seemed to grow very fond of them. There is no doubt that many of the spiritual decisions made during the week happened in great part due to the efforts of our team captains as they modeled Christ before these young people and encouraged their spiritual growth through their conversations. While this was a shorter week, it was no less spiritually demanding or fruitful for our team. We are so thankful for the opportunity to minister alongside godly Christian workers, and we are truly blessed to see the Word of God bring a harvest of spiritual decisions.
