I love Tomah Baptist Church. Over the years, I have spoken there several times and every time the services are full of liberty and freedom. This week of The War was no exception.
The team did an excellent job saturating the teens of Tomah with news about The War. On Wednesday night, we had gorgeous weather and a good crowd. During the invitation, nine young people responded to get their salvation settled. As I was waiting to screen the young men, one of the counselors called me over to him. He was visibly moved. He said through tears that he needed my help finishing up with the young man. The young man was obviously under conviction, bowed his head, and trusted Christ alone to save him. Afterward, the counselor came to me to explain what happened. He said that as he was talking to the young man, he recognized his last name. It turned out that the young man was the son of an old friend that he used to play in a band with before he was saved. He was so moved by the goodness of God, could not proceed, and needed my help. We praised the Lord together for the power of the gospel!
Thursday night and Friday night also yielded a great crowd and perfect weather. After two nights trailing the Navy team, Army made a big comeback the final night and won the week. Overall, we had 83 young people at The War with a high night of 64. We had a total of 19 young people trust Jesus to save them from the consequences of their sin. The church was greatly encouraged at the week, as were we.
